UPDATE: On Wednesday, Roseanne Barr reiterated that he show would not back off its conservative, political content – and charged media “misrepresented what ABC President said about our new season.”

On Tuesday, the president of ABC reportedly said that “Roseanne” will back off from the show’s popular conservative-leaning humor – prompting the show’s star to respond and reassure her fans.

A Fox News article reported that ABC’s Channing Dungey has put an end to the show’s political humor, a move Internet giant Matt Drudge described as “Corporate cannibals stripping Roseanne of her fun”:

“ABC entertainment president Channing Dungey put the kibosh on “Roseanne” remaining political in the second season – apparently ditching the strategy the network touted only two months ago.

“Dungey said that the show will lean away from politics next season during a conference call with reporters as part of the network’s upfront presentation. Upon learning the news, conservative media icon Matt Drudge tweeted, ‘Corporate cannibals stripping Roseanne of her fun.’”

But, in a late-night Tweet, Roseanne reassured her show’s fans the show will be even “braver” next season – no matter what is “mistakenly” reported:

“don’t worry, #Roseanne show fans-next season will be even braver/funnier/timely than this season, despite what anyone mistakenly says.”
