'Majlis to discuss economy with Rouhani'

The Economic Committee of Iranâ„¢s Majlis plans to hold a meeting with President-elect Hassan Rouhani to discuss the countryâ„¢s economic problems and their viable solutions.

Å“The members of the Majlis Economic Committee have prepared a report on economic frailties and issued some proposals aimed at improving the countryâ„¢s economic climate, which will be presented at the meeting with the president-elect,” said Rahim Zareâ„¢ on Saturday.

The meeting will be held prior to Rouhaniâ„¢s swearing-in scheduled for early August, the lawmaker said.

Rouhani won Iran’s presidential election of June 14, which was marked by a high voter turnout, winning 50.7 percent of a total of 36,704,156 ballots counted.

Zareâ„¢ elaborated that the Majlis report incorporates proposals for tackling the existing problems and challenges in the stock market, banking, taxing system and privatization process.

The report also includes plans for creating jobs in the cooperative and the private sector and continuing the implementation of the subsidy reform plan, which we believe has certain problems, the lawmaker said.
