Afghan war is 'undeclared war by US'

The US presence in Afghanistan is an indicative of an undeclared war against Afghans, says Kim Petersen, co-editor of Dissident Voice Vancouver.

Å“This is an undeclared war by the US by the way. They are fighting Afghanistan but itâ„¢s not a declared war in the US,” Petersen told Press TV on Tuesday.

Å“They are the foreigners in Afghanistan and they are fighting Afghanis,” he added.

He went on to say that Afghanistan Å“is in a kind of a civil war that was induced from outside.”

The US and its allies invaded Afghanistan as part of a so-called war on terror in 2001.

Just this year, more than 90 American troops and 20 foreign soldiers led by the US military have been killed so far.

Also, three US-led soldiers were killed and several others injured in an attack in the troubled eastern Afghanistan earlier this week, according to the International Security Assistance Force.

2010 was the deadliest year for foreign military casualties in Afghanistan with a death toll of 711.

US-led troops and Afghan forces are falling prey to Taliban attacks on an almost daily basis and there has been no letup in the Taliban attacks on the US-led foreign troops across the war-ravaged country.

Over a decade of the costly US-led war in Afghanistan has failed to end militancy in the country and the US, which has thousands of troops on the ground in Afghanistan, is now trying to sit down for talks with the Taliban militants.

Washington says a large number of US-led foreign troops are expected to leave the country by the end of 2014.
