A young British man who planned to join the Takfiri terrorist group Daesh and was a friend of a Daesh recruiter who sought to assassinate prime minister Theresa May has been found guilty of terrorism offences by a court in London.

Reports from the British media said on Thursday that Mohammed Aqib Imran, 22, had befriended Naa’imur Zakariyah Rahman, 21, a British member of Daesh who planned to kill the British premier, according to a hearing at the Old Bailey in central London.

The court said after the hearing that Imran, from north London, had been actively planning to join Daesh, a terror group once dominant in the Middle East which is now almost obliterated from its main bastions in Iraq and Syria
