Fairfax County police officer arrested for child pornography

FAIRFAX, Va. – Fairfax County police say one of their officers has been arrested for child pornography. Officer William “Bud” Walker was arrested Wednesday afternoon at police headquarters and charged with two counts of child pornography possession.

“This matter is disappointing to all of us, including all of the members of the Fairfax County Police Department who put their lives on the line each and every shift,” said Police Chief Ed Roessler. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a tip from a blogging and social media site that child pornography was uploaded onto its servers from a Fairfax County home that was owned by Walker. Walker is a police spokesperson who has worked for the department for 15 years.

“We determined with the chief that we needed to place charges now, and in a case generally like this, we want to make sure that the public and our kids are safe,” said Lt. James Bacon of the Child Exploitation Unit for Fairfax County police. Walker was hired by the department in 1999. He worked most recently in the Public Information Office representing the department before the media.
