What is it with Florida Congressmen?
Stephen Colbert reminded Tea Party favorite Florida Congressman Trey Radel, who was busted this week for buying cocaine, to study up his American history. “He forgot the part of the Tea Party story where you dump the product into the harbor before the cops come,” the comedian said.
Radel is a Tea Party darling in part because he is fiscally and socially conservative, of course. “So committed to family values, he voted to drug test people on food stamps,” Colbert pointed out. “But he’s not a hypocrite. He just uses his government paycheck.”
No? Radel announced yesterday he would be taking a leave of absence, but that did not stop Colbert from having a field day.
