US bombing of Iraq ‘won’t end violence’

The bombing of Iraqi cities by the United States military will not end the resurgence of violence in Iraq until Washington stops supporting terrorists, an American journalist says.

Å“US Congress, at least one congressman I think more than that wants the US Air Force to get back in action again to fight the people they call terrorists,” Stephen Lendman told Press TV on Tuesday.

He made the remarks when asked to comment about Congressman Adam Kinzingerâ„¢s criticism of the Obama administration for withdrawing American troops from Iraq,

Rep. Kinzinger said Washington should assist the Iraqi government with limited air power and intelligence operations as Iraqi security forces and the al-Qaeda-affiliated militants are clashing in Fallujah and Ramadi cities in Anbar province.

Å“Congress should address the root of the problem. The root of the problem is US policy. If the US policy stays the way it is, the situation wonâ„¢t get any better. No matter how many bombings or other activities US military forces may undertake,” Lendman said.

Å“The situation will get worse and worse and worse and the only way to change this I like to put it this way, itâ„¢s for Washington to call off its dogs in another words stop supporting these people, stop recruiting them, stop paying them, stop arming them, just cut them off,” he added.

The United States says it is sending missiles and drones to Iraq to counter attacks by al-Qaeda militants.
