Britain and India will discuss the UKâ„¢s controversial visa cash bonds later in June.
A meeting between representatives of Britain and India will be held later in June over the UKâ„¢s controversial plans to force visitors from six Asian and African nations, including India, to pay £3,000 cash bond deposit to enter Britain.
Diplomats from the Indian high commission in London asked Britainâ„¢s Foreign Office to set a date for talks on the issue, reports.
“We have been informed that it is not the policy of the government but a pilot proposal by the home ministry. Discussions between different ministries in UK will take place soon on the proposal,” India’s Foreign Ministry officials said.
The plans, which aimed at preventing abuse of immigration rules in the country, will initially cover India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nigeria and Ghana.
British governmentâ„¢s restrictions on visa rules have led to a decrease in the number of foreign students in the UK and could cost Britain’s universities £2.4 billion over the next decade.
