Egyptâ„¢s ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak appears in a Cairo court on June, 8 2013.
A court in Cairo has postponed the second hearing in the retrial of Egyptâ„¢s ousted dictator Hosni Mubarak and his senior officials until next Monday.
Mubarak appeared in court with other top aides including his interior minister, Habib al-Adly, on Saturday. Also present in the dock facing corruption charges were Mubarak’s sons Alaa and Gamal.
Judge Mahmoud Kamel El-Rashidi adjourned the hearing shortly after it began at the Police Academy on the outskirts of the Egyptian capital.
The presiding judge said he needs time to review evidence and announced that proceedings in the retrial of the ousted dictator will be adjourned till June 10.
Mubarak and several of his top officials are accused of complicity in the deaths of hundreds of demonstrators during the Egyptian revolution.
The defendants have all pleaded not guilty to the multiple charges.
The former longtime ruler was sentenced to life in prison last June, but an appeals court later overturned the sentence and ordered a retrial.
