Imran Khan was once famous for his sports career as a cricketer, however many are now familiar with his work as a Pakistani Politician. Belonging to the party ‘Tehreek-e-Insaf’ which translates to ‘movement for justice’, he has created a strong anti-corruption movement and a message. His rallies and speeches are known for drawing up to 100,000 people.
Since early August, Imran Khan and Canadian Cleric Dr. Tahir ul Qadri have been busy asking protestors and the public to help hold the current Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to account. Nawaz Shrif came into power in 2013, his victory is allegedly due to rigged votes, however he refuses to resign and has ordered to fire tear gas and rubber bullets on anti-government protestors.
Khan’s supporters were also beaten with Police batons in Islamabad. Last night, the spokesman for the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Islamabad stated that 164 injured people have been taken to that hospital, while the Poly Clinic hospital said it had received 70 wounded and continues to do so.
