On 8th June 2001 in a federal court in Miami five Cuban men, Gerardo Hernández, Ramón Labañino, Antonio Guerrero, Fernando González and René González were convicted of charges of false identification, espionage and conspiracy to commit murder. على الثامن حزيران / يونية 2001 في محكمة اتحاديه في ميامي الكوبي خمسة رجال ، وجيراردو هيرنانديز ، ورامون لLabañino ، انطونيو غيريرو ، وفرناندو غونزاليس ورينيه غونزاليس وادين بتهمة هوية مزيفه ، والتجسس ، والتآمر لارتكاب جريمه قتل. The five men, known as the Miami Five in Cuba and the Cuban Five in Miami were sent to infiltrate and monitor the anti-Cuban terrorist activities of such groups as Brothers to the Rescue, Comandos F4, CORU, Alpha 66 and Omega 7, based in Miami and warn of planned terrorist attacks - though it transpired that the groups activities were know, if not supported, by the FBI and CIA. الرجال الخمسة ، والمعروفة باسم كوبا فى ميامى خمسة وخمسة الكوبية في ميامي وأرسلت للتسلل الى رصد ومكافحة الانشطه الارهابيه الكوبية من مجموعات مثل اخوة الانقاذ ، F4 المغاوير ، وقيادة المنظمات الثوريه ، 66 الفا واوميغا 7 ، القائم على في ميامي ، وحذرت من مخطط الهجمات الارهابيه التي وقعت -- رغم ان تبين ان انشطه الجماعات نعرف ، ان لم يكن الدعم ، من قبل وكالة المخابرات المركزية ومكتب التحقيقات الاتحادي. As a result of the information they supplied, many terrorist act were pre-empted and two aircraft involved in these attacks were shot down. ونتيجة المعلومات التي قدمت الكثير من العمل الارهابي اجهض وطائرتين من طراز المشاركة في هذه الهجمات كانت اسقطت.
However, the five were arrested on 12th September 1998 and held in solitary confinement for 17 months. ومع ذلك ، القى القبض على خمسة في الثاني عشر من ايلول / سبتمبر 1998 فى الحبس الانفرادي لمدة 17 شهرا.
