Nuri al-Maliki, Iraq’s prime minister, has extended a deadline to April 8 for Shia fighters to hand over weapons or face “severe penalties”. نوري المالكي ، رئيس وزراء العراق ، وقد مدد موعد نهائي الى 8 نيسان / ابريل للمقاتلين الشيعه لتسليم الأسلحة أو مواجهة "عقوبات شديدة".

More than 130 people have been killed in the fighting and a three-day lockdown has been imposed in the capital. اكثر من 130 شخصا لقوا مصرعهم فى القتال ، واستمرت ثلاثة ايام lockdown فرضت في العاصمة.

An official said the prime minister would skip a meeting of Arab leaders in Syria over the weeekend to deal with the spreading violence. رسمى ان رئيس الوزراء سوف تخطي اجتماع القادة العرب فى سوريا على مدى weeekend للتعامل مع انتشار العنف. Al-Maliki has pledged “no retreat” in the fight against Shia militia forces in the country’s south. المالكي تعهد "لا تراجع" في المعركه ضد قوات الميليشيات الشيعيه في جنوب البلاد.

Mahdi Army control السيطرة على جيش المهدي

A police source told Al Jazeera that 80 people had been killed and another 450 injured by fighting between Iraqi forces and fighters from the Mahdi Army of Shia leader Muqtada al-Sadr in Basra alone. وقال مصدر في الشرطة ان قناة الجزيرة الفضاءيه ان 80 شخصا قد قتلوا وجرح 450 اخر من القتال بين القوات العراقية ومقاتلين من جيش المهدي للزعيم الشيعي مقتدي الصدر في مدينة البصرة وحدها.

He said security forces had taken control of the centre of town but that large parts of the southern oil-hub city remain under Mahdi Army control. وقال ان قوات الامن سيطرت على وسط المدينة ولكن ان اجزاء كبيرة من النفط في الجنوب - محور المدينة لا تزال تحت سيطره جيش المهدي.

Fierce clashes erupted in the southern city of Nasiriyah early on Friday between Iraqi forces and Shia fighters, killing at least four policemen, a local police official said. اندلعت اشتباكات دامية في جنوب مدينة الناصرية فى وقت مبكر يوم الجمعة بين القوات العراقية والمقاتلين الشيعه ، وقتلت ما لا يقل عن اربعة من رجال الشرطة ، وقال مسؤول في الشرطة المحلية.

In the southern city of Kut, 45 people were reported dead and 87 wounded from at least three days of fighing. في مدينة الكوت الجنوبيه ، و 45 شخصا قتلى و 87 جريحا من ثلاثة ايام على الاقل من fighing.
