The administration of President Donald Trump has defended a US Special Forces raid in Yemen as a “success by all standards,” despite the death of multiple civilians and children.
White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Thursday that the intelligence gathered during the raid would ultimately protect American lives.
“It’s hard to ever call something a complete success when you have the loss of life or people injured,” Spicer said.
“When you think of the loss of life throughout America and institutions and in terms of the world, in terms of what some of the individuals could have done, I think it is a successful operation by all standards,” Spicer said.
