Most American voters disagree with President Barack Obama’s view on presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton’s qualifications to succeed him as the next US president, a poll has found.
During a joint campaign event in North Carolina last week, Obama said, “There has never ever been any man or woman more qualified for this office” than the former first lady.
A Rasmussen survey released Monday, however, found that only 22 percent of likely voters had the same idea about Clinton and an overwhelming 65 percent thought the opposite.
The pollsters said they did not mention Obama’s name in the poll to get more accurate answers.
The statement even failed to appeal to Democratic-leaning voters as only 42 percent of them agreed with the notion. The figure for likely Republican voters was 5 percent.
The result shows that Obama’s plans to boost the former secretary of state’s image among voters have fallen flat.
