US officials have reportedly been unaware of details in the meetings between US President Donald Trump and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin.
There are no detailed records of Trump’s face-to-face meetings with Putin as the US president concealed any details, according to a report published on Saturday by The Washington Post.
In one of the meetings, Trump himself took notes and directed a linguist not to discuss the details with the administration officials.
Trump’s former secretary of state, Rex Tillerson, has acknowledged that he “was present for the entirety of the two presidents’ official bilateral meeting in Hamburg,” yet he has declined to discuss the details.
At a press conference last year following a summit in the Finnish capital Helsinki, Trump backed the Russian leader’s denial of alleged meddling in the 2016 presidential election despite the American intelligence community’s assessment.
