British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson has said the United Kingdom and the European Union can do business with US President-elect Donald Trump, after refusing to attend an EU special meeting on Trump.
“Donald Trump, as I’ve said before, is a dealmaker and I think that could be a good thing for Britain but it can also be a good thing for Europe,” Johnson said on Monday as he arrived for an EU foreign ministers meeting in Brussels, the de facto capital of Europe.
“I think we all need to wait and see what they come up with, but I think we should regard it as a moment of opportunity,” he added.
Trump’s campaign had been hit with many controversies since its inception in the early 2015. But he still stunned the world by defeating the heavily favored Democratic candidate, Hillary Clinton, in the November 8 election.
