US President Donald Trump has called for a “good shutdown” of the country to deal with the “mess.”
The new president appeared on Twitter on Tuesday to make the comments in the wake of his failure to move forward with his agenda in the spending deal, US Congress is set to approve this week.
“The reason for the plan negotiated between the Republicans and Democrats is that we need 60 votes in the Senate which are not there!”
The spending bill, which in part, excludes provisions for Trump’s proposed wall on the Mexican border, is the first major bipartisan legislation during Trump’s tenure.
The president suggested that “We either elect more Republican Senators in 2018 or change the rules now to 51%. Our country needs a good ‘shutdown’ in September to fix mess!”
