There’s a common myth among liberalism that says Islam and LGBT can live together in peace and harmony, happily ever after, just like Bert and Ernie. Unibrows optional. Tis not so. Here’s yet another example to add to the ever-growing list detailing why…
Two transgender Pakistanis were reportedly packed into sacks and thrashed to death with sticks by police in Saudi Arabia. The pair were arrested in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, for cross-dressing in public.
It is a punishable offence in the kingdom for a man to imitate a woman and officers arrested 35 people in a raid on a guest house. Police recovered women’s clothing and jewelry and took those arrested into custody.
It was here that Amna, 35, and Meeno, 26, are said to have been beaten to death while under police surveillance in prison.
A transgender rights activist… Qamar Naseem said: ‘The suffering ended for these two after being physically tortured, however, the rest are still languishing in Saudi jails. No one is there to same them as the life of a transgender is not of any value to anyone, not even for our own government.’
These aren’t a few fringe group extremists, mind you. This is being carried out by Saudi Arabian government. Say, remember when big companies started cutting ties with North Carolina over the bathroom issue? We still haven’t heard those same companies refusing to do business with anti-LGBT Islamic countries. Interesting.
This is what intolerance looks like, by the way. Calling someone by the wrong pronoun? Doesn’t count as a squelching of transgender rights. Turning someone into a human hacky sack? Gross violation of human rights. Sad we need to make the distinction, no?
