People in the US State of Texas have staged a demonstration, calling for justice for a black teenager who was fatally shot by a police officer in early February.
The protesters gathered in front of City Hall in Austin and chanted slogans against US police brutality. They also called on the police chief of Austin to fire Geoffrey Freeman, the cop who killed David Joseph last month.
Protesters chanted, “No justice, no peace” or “Justice for David Joseph.”
The 17-year-old high school student was unarmed when he was gunned down. Joseph’s death has sparked a new wave of protests and rallies against police violence and racial profiling.
“First of all, there was a naked unarmed teenager that was shot by the Austin police department. It was an injustice in regards to how the system is, in regards to black people here in Austin, Texas, and not even in Austin, Texas, but everywhere.
