Facebook may be making AR glasses after all.
The social media giant recently moved hundreds of employees from its Facebook Reality Labs research division to a totally new unit devoted to augmented reality hardware, according to Business Insider.
This hardware is expected to include Facebook’s much-anticipated AR glasses.
The team is believed to be led by Michael Abrash, an AR/VR exec, as well as Andrew ‘Boz’ Bosworth, Facebook’s vice president of augmented reality and virtual reality.
Facebook confirmed the move in a statement to Business Insider, saying that the team includes ‘a few hundred people.’
A source who claims to have played with a prototype of Facebook’s AR glasses told Business Insider that the glasses closely resemble a pair of typical eyeglasses.
