Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons, who today announced he was removing himself from his businesses after allegations that he raped screenwriter Jenny Lumet, was a strident male feminist who repeatedly virtue signaled about his opposition to the rape and abuse of women, while accusing Donald Trump of launching a “war against women”.

Lumet published an open letter today revealing how Simmons “sexually violated” her in 1991 “after accepting a ride home in Simmons’ car, only for his driver to take her to the music mogul’s apartment, despite her objections.”

Simmons “penetrated” Lumet in his apartment, an experience that left her feeling “dread and disorientation”.

The screenwriter said she felt the need to go public after Simmons denied separate allegations by model Keri Claussen Khalighi, who said Simmons sexually assaulted her during an incident in the same year.

Simmons claimed the encounter with Khalighi was consensual and that he had never “committed any acts of aggression or violence” in his life and would “never knowingly cause fear or harm to anyone.”

A brief search of Simmons’ Twitter history confirms that he was obsessed with virtue signaling about how much he cared about women’s rights.

In one darkly ironic tweet, Simmons remarked, “1 in 3 women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her life. Today I join #1billionrising to demand an end to violence.”

Back in January, Simmons expressed support for the ‘Women’s March’ and Linda Sarsour.
