Republican US Senator Rand Paul has been attacked under yet unclear circumstances suffering minor injuries after a man allegedly assaulted him at his home in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
“Senator Paul was blindsided and the victim of an assault,” the senator’s spokeswoman said on Saturday about the Friday incident. “The assailant was arrested and it is now a matter for the police. Senator Paul is fine.”
Police responded to a call from the senator’s residence at 3:21 pm Friday. Police arrested a man named Rene Albert Boucher, who they allege “intentionally assaulted” Paul, causing him “minor injury,” according to Kentucky State Police.
The Kentucky State Police confirmed that the FBI was involved in the investigation.
