UK authorities have handed a life sentence to a teenager over links to the Daesh terrorist group and plots to carry out attacks in the capital London.
A jury at Old Bailey ruled on Friday that Safaa Boular had been involved in a plot to attack the British Museum in Bloomsbury, central London, last year. The 18-year-old was also found guilty of attempting to travel to Syria to join Daesh.
Police said Boular, along her mother and sister and a family friend had formed a terror cell.
“All three women were filled with hate and toxic ideology and were determined to carry out a terrorist attack,” said Dean Haydon, senior national coordinator for counter terrorism policing, adding, “Had they been successful, it could well have resulted in people being killed or seriously injured.”
