US House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi has said that President Donald Trump engages in racism “constantly,” after Trump rejected “all types of racism and acts of violence.”
Pelosi told MSNBC on Sunday that she believes Trump is afraid of her and Representative Maxine Waters (D-California), who was repeatedly attacked by the president as being a “low IQ” person.
“He’s afraid of the women who are going to be coming into Congress,” she said. “He talks about there’s no place for racism and then he speaks that way, it’s really disgraceful.”
“It’s disrespectful to Maxine, to women, of course to minorities,” she added.
Ahead of the first anniversary of the violent white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Trump tweeted on Saturday morning, “We must come together as a nation. I condemn all types of racism and acts of violence. Peace to ALL Americans!”
