British Prime Minister Theresa says that US President Donald Trump advised her to sue the European Union and avoid negotiations with the bloc over Brexit.
Trump said last week that May had ignored a piece of advice he had given to the British premier.
On Sunday, May revealed that advice, telling BBC television that “he told me I should sue the EU.”
“Sue the EU. Not go into negotiations – sue them,” May said of Trump.
The two leaders held a joint press conference at Chequers, Ellesborough, on Friday, where Trump indicated that if May was unable to secure the deal that she needs from Britain, she might still follow his advice.
Commenting on Trump’s suggestion on how to handle the EU, May told BBC: “Interestingly, what the president also said at that press conference was ‘don’t walk away’.”
