Newly-released documents by the Federal Bureau of Investigation suggest that former Trump presidential campaign adviser Carter Page collaborated and conspired with Russia prior to the 2016 US election.
On Saturday, the FBI released the documents related to the surveillance of Page as part of a probe into whether he and the Russian government plotted to undercut the election.
The 412 pages, mostly heavily redacted, included surveillance applications to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court and warrants surrounding the investigation into Page.
“The FBI believes that Page has been collaborating and conspiring with the Russian Government,” the surveillance application filed in October 2016 said.
The documents also include applications and renewal warrants lodged in 2017 after Donald Trump took office.
Page has so far denied the allegations and has not been charged with any crime.
