US President Donald Trump says Democrats want to see “all police” abolished as protests against his tough immigration policy gain momentum.
In recent months, a US law enforcement agency known as the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), which is involved in in processing the status of refugees crossing into America at the southern US border with Mexico, has been under fire for implementing Trump’s hardline immigration policy.
Democrats are campaigning to abolish ICE due to the agency’s aggressive approach to undocumented migrants and its separating of families at the border.
“The Democrats are making a strong push to abolish ICE,” Trump wrote in a tweet on Saturday morning.
Trump defended ICE in the tweet, declaring that the “brave” ICE personnel were doing a “fantastic job” and must keep their spirit up.
