The Democrat Governor of California, Jerry Brown, has signed several new gun control laws in the state.
The new laws, signed on Friday, include one measure that increases the minimum age for buying rifles and shotguns in California from 18 to 21.

Other measures in the gun control laws signed by Governor Brown included a ban of firearm possession for people convicted of serious domestic violence charges, along with people who have been hospitalized for mental health problems more than once in one year. The new California gun laws will go into effect on January 1, 2019.
