PressTV-‘Americans not interested in foreign wars’

Americans do not want US President Donald Trump to create more international problems for the country by appointing a hard-liner for the post of secretary of state, according to Michael Burns,  a political and military analyst in New York. 

Multiple news outlets reported that Trump wanted to replace US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo, a Trump loyalist and foreign policy hard-liner.

Trump has described Tillerson as weak and the top diplomat reportedly called Trump a moron. 

The White House, however, announced on Thursday that Tillerson will remain as the secretary of state.

Burns told Press TV on Friday that Americans preferred Tillerson to Pompeo. He described Tillerson as “a man of class and style” whom Americans liked.

“We don’t ask that much of a secretary of state other than not to get us into trouble,” the analyst explained.
