Online reaction to the shooting dead of 32-year-old Castile has been one of disgust, particularly given it happened so soon after the death of Alton Sterling. Many are shocked at the reckless behavior of the police.
Many used the fact that Castile was carrying a licensed gun when shot to address the NRA’s stance on firearms, asking “All you ‘Dont you take my guns’ folks. Are you going to stand for #PhilandoCastile?!”

With another death of an African-American at the hands of police one twitter user criticized their compassion for the people they should be protecting. “Not help. No sense of humanity. I’m tired.”
#PhilandoCastile he was slumped over DYING and the cop continued to point his gun towards him. Not help. No sense of humanity. I’m tired.

Why are we still reporting it as “an officer involved in the shooting” please? Let’s call a murderer a murderer. #PhilandoCastile
