New National Security Adviser John Bolton Is a Bush Administration Neocon

John Bolton’s new role as US national security adviser may spell trouble for security chiefs elsewhere. An apologist for the Iraq invasion on false pretexts, he is also well known for his hawkish effort to encourage war with Iran.

Bolton was Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security in the Bush administration from 2002-2004, during which time he promoted the weapons of mass destruction myth to bring about the Iraq invasion, and later said he had “no regrets,” about doing so. He also attempted to bring about a war with the Islamic Republic of Iran.
