MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host and former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough has announced that he’s leaving the GOP.
“I’ve got to become an independent,” said Scarborough during an interview with CBS “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday.
“I am a Republican but I’m not going to be a Republican anymore,”he added.
He appeared as a guest with his co-host and fiance, Mika Brzezinski, who recently was attacked by Republican President Donald Trump in late June.
“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore),” Trump tweeted then.

Trump added, “Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”
Trump was often interviewed on “Morning Joe” aired from MSNBC during the 2016 presidential campaign.
