Former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has defeated independent Senator Bernie Sanders in the Missouri Democratic primary, winning all five states that voted March 15.
The Associated Press called the race for Clinton on Thursday evening, two days after voters went to the polls in Missouri.
Clinton scored decisive victories in Florida, Illinois, Ohio and North Carolina on Tuesday, but the result from the Missouri primary had been too close to project.
Clinton’s victory in Missouri gives her a significant boost as she is inching towards winning the Democratic nomination.
Sanders conceded defeat on Thursday and said he will not request a recount.
“I prefer to save the taxpayers of Missouri some money,” he told AP.
