Clinton holds narrow 2-point lead over Trump: YouGov poll

Democratic presumed nominee Hillary Clinton maintains a narrow 2-point lead over his Republican rival Donald Trump in the run-up to the US 2016 presidential election, a new YouGov/Economist poll shows.

Released on Monday, the poll results showed that the former Secretary of State is leading the GOP candidate 40 percent to 38 percent.

The poll found out that a significant number of voters were turning to a third alternative.

As seven percent of voters yet remained undecided, according to the poll, Libertarian presidential nominee Gary Johnson secured 5 percent and Green Party nominee Jill Stein took 3 percent.

Trump, a New York billionaire, has managed to gain more support after the conclusion of the GOP convention in Cleveland, Ohio, earlier.

The YouGov/Economist poll surveyed 1,300 registered voters after the convention and had a margin of error of 4.5 percentage points.
