Christmas Eve mass shooting leaves 4 dead in North Carolina

A mass shooting on Christmas Eve has left four people dead in the US state of North Carolina, officials say.

Police officials found the four people dead with gunshot wounds at a residence just outside the city of Wilson on Saturday afternoon.

“There are four gunshot victims on Banks Lane,” said Wanda Samuel of the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office.

No other information has been released on the victims’ names or ages but one of them is a man who did maintenance work for a property owner, according to a woman who lives on Banks Lane.

Police have not released any information about the suspect or suspects yet, saying an investigation is underway.

Local residents, who described the neighborhood as a quiet, expressed concern about the incident, with a woman saying, “It’s Christmas Eve. It’s shocking.”
