At least four US service members have been killed in an attack apparently carried out by an Afghan soldier at a base in northern Afghanistan, according to an Afghan military official cited by Reuters.
“An Afghan soldier shot and killed four American troops inside the base,” said a spokesman for the Afghan Army’s 209th Corps, Abdul Qahar Araam, as cited by Reuters. “We are investigating,” he added.
The US military command in Kabul said it was “aware of an incident” at Camp Shaheen, the HQ of the 209th Corps in the city of Mazar-i-Sharif, but would not immediately provide any details, the agency added.
