Hacktivist group Anonymous have leaked a document containing the credentials of over 4,000 bank executives, including addresses and contact information, which they obtained by hacking into one of the Federal Reserves internal websites.

Business phone, mobile phone, business email and fax numbers were also published.

The claim was originally made via Twitter using an account registered to OpLastResort – which is connected to Anonymous. The account has also claimed responsibility for attacks on other corporate and government websites.

Although downplaying the leak, the Federal Reserve have confirmed it. According to Reuters a spokeswoman for the US central bank said:

“The Federal Reserve system is aware that information was obtained by exploiting a temporary vulnerability in a website vendor product.

“Exposure was fixed shortly after discovery and is no longer an issue. This incident did not affect critical operations of the Federal Reserve system.”

It’s thought that Anonymous have more attacks planned in the coming weeks.
