Baltimore City state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby says officers will be arraigned in early July
(Common Dreams) – Baltimore City state’s attorney Marilyn Mosby announced late Thursday afternoon that all six police officers have been indicted in the death of Freddie Gray.
The officers will be arraigned on July 2, said Mosby.
The Associated Press reports:
The charges returned by the grand jury were similar to the charges Mosby announced about three weeks ago.
Mosby has said Gray’s neck was broken because he was injured while being handcuffed, shackled and placed head-first into a police van. She says his pleas for medical attention were repeatedly ignored.
Gray, a 25-year-old black man, died brutally last month after his spine was almost completely severed while in police custody.
His death has become a symbol of police violence against black people and sparked angry protests in Baltimore.
