More Unemployed Workers Going Online To Make Money

by Alexander Mathis

As the world economy struggles to rebound, more and more unemployed adults are looking in to how to make money online. In the U.S. alone, the unemployment rate still causes economist observers to cringe and worry about the future of the job market.

Recent figures have noted a slight increase in employment, but the numbers are still far below average and increasingly a cause for concern about the overall health of the American economy, as well as the world economy. As the unemployed continue to suffer economically and look for jobs, many have begun to think about self-employment and entrepreneurship.

The world having turned into a multimedia environment where bloggers have become news sources and many have achieved fame solely through the internet, the public’s perception has changed about the purpose of the World Wide Web. As social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter dominate traffic on the internet and users spend large amounts of time on such sites, the newly unemployed look to capitalize on the changing consciousness of the current generation and how we communicate and interact. With the economic collapse of 2009, the possibility to make money online has now piqued the interest of many who would have never thought of attempting to start a business solely through the medium of the internet.

“I have been noticing a sharp increase in interest regarding earning a living through the internet throughout the last year,” remarks Joshua Reinbold, owner of a make money on the net website.

“The average person still has no idea how to make a website or even upload files to a server. These are the kinds of basic things I have to include in my online course in order to bring a student along slowly. After we get those details out of the way, we then can teach the real strategies on how to earn a real living by generating profits through websites and other online avenues. It’s an exciting world in which we live.”

Advertisements on how to make money online have been increasingly bombarding the average internet user over the last 5-10 years, and have earned owners of websites in this market millions during the last decade. One problem, though, is that consumers must watch out for scams and many have become wary of any and all such programs.

“If you see an online advertisement, such as ads I remember in the past about to make money thousands per day filling out a few surveys per day, or, more recently, earning hundreds of dollars per hour by pushing a few buttons for Google, you should be extremely wary,” continues Reinbold.

“These are the types of empty promises that make the rest of us making an honest living through our online businesses look bad, and leads to hesitant customers and students. The problem is anyone can truly create an honest living this way, but it does take some work. It’s amazing how some seem to think all the work should be done for them. I would still say that making money online is easier to do than starting a business offline and requires less startup capital, as well.”

Perhaps as the economy continues its slow recovery, more of the unemployed will attempt to create a living through the use of the internet. Online business has grown even with the poor economy, and we will most likely see a large growth in the amount of money exchanged on the internet in the years to come.
