Wrong email reveals UK’s EU exit project

The Bank of England says it is studying the financial risks of the UK leaving the EU after it “inadvertently” sent details of its work to the Guardian newspaper.

Earlier, a senior official of the bank sent an email about its confidential project on the issue to an editor of the Guardian. A spokesman for the bank described the error as “unfortunate”.

Prime Minister David Cameron has promised an in/out referendum on the UK’s EU membership by the end of 2017.
