US torturing al-Libi on warship

American author and political analyst Stephen Lendman says the United States is torturing detained suspected al-Qaeda operative Abu Anas al-Libi on a warship in order to get a confession.

œAl-Libi is being held on a US torture prison ship, the USS San Antonio,” Lendman told Press TV on Tuesday.

œHe™ll be tortured. He™ll be forced to sign a confession. And if you torture somebody long enough, painfully enough they™ll say anything to get the pain to stop,” he added.

On Saturday, al-Libi was abducted on the Libyan soil by a team of US commandos for allegedly involving in attacks against US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania in 1998.

The suspect is being held in military custody aboard the USS San Antonio. The Libyan government asked for an explanation from the US over his so-called “extradition” from Tripoli.

œOn October 5th, US commandos, CIA and FBI agents lawlessly abducted Abu Anas al-Libi from Libya. Who is this man?” Lendman asked.

œHe was recruited in the 1980s as a Mujahedeen fighter that America used against Soviet occupiers. That™s the time Ronald Reagan called all of these fighters œthe moral equivalent of our founding fathers.” Bin Laden, al-Libi and many others, with these type fighters, over the years have been used strategically as both allies and enemies,” he explained.

œAl-Libi was used to fight Gaddafi in 2011 and as I mentioned he was used against the Soviet in Afghanistan in the 1980s and then on October 5th he was abducted lawlessly,” Lendman said.

œAmerica has used him (al-Libi) at least twice, I think more than twice, but in Libya and Afghanistan he served American interests.”

œThe Libyan government could have done nothing to stop this. America is an out-of-control rogue state. It does whatever it wants anywhere in the world … America is ruled by diktat power whether it™s George Bush, whether it™s Barack Obama, it doesn™t make any difference.”
