The US State Department says 18 American embassies and consulates across the Middle East and North Africa will reopen on Sunday and Monday while it mission in the Yemeni capital will remain closed.
The US shut the 19 diplomatic missions last Sunday citing the threat of a major attack by al-Qaeda. American authorities also issued a global travel alert for US citizens.

In a separate case on Thursday, the US government ordered the evacuation of most diplomats from its consulate in Pakistanâ„¢s northeastern city of Lahore due to Å“threats” of attack.
Non-essential staff at the US consulate in Lahore were evacuated to the US embassy in Islamabad on Friday following an Å“ordered departure” issued by the US State Department.
The details of the threats were not mentioned. Meanwhile, a US embassy spokesperson has said it was not clear when the US consulate in Lahore would reopen.
