The so-called ˜˜prompt global strike™™ program of the United States is œvery dangerous” for the country, a political analyst said.
In an interview with Press TV on Thursday, spokesman of Stop the War Coalition Jim Brann said the United States œcontinues to maintain” that it œwill be able to launch an attack anywhere in the world with conventional weapons.”
œIt™s a very dangerous line for the United States to take especially at the time when in other ways the United States power is declining,” he said.
Weapons that have been developed in the United States under the ˜˜prompt global strike™™ program would be capable of striking targets anywhere in the world in as little as an hour with deadly precision.
Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said on Wednesday that Moscow reserves the right to use nuclear weapons in response to a conventional strike and sees them as a ˜˜great equalizer™™ reducing the likelihood of aggression.
Rogozin said that those who “experiment with non-nuclear strategic weapons” should remember that “if we come under attack, we will undoubtedly use nuclear weapons in certain situations to defend our territory and state interests.”
According to Brann, the United States has a slogan that describes itself as an œindispensable” nation and other countries as œdispensable.”
œThe idea that one nation, the United States, is indispensable and the logic that therefore all other nations are dispensable and it in that context that the United States approaches these questions,” he said.
œSo it says that if other countries have nuclear weapons, that would represent the challenge to United States power and therefore United States has the right to say who is a threat who is developing weapons of mass destruction and therefore who represents the threat to the United States and then the United States has a right to act militarily by war against that threat,” the analyst explained.
