American officials are enslaved by Israel and forced at “gunpoint” by the powerful Zionist lobby to follow Israel’s policies, a journalist and activist in Wisconsin says.
In an interview with Press TV, Kevin Barrett said that pro-Israel lobbying groups hold vast influence in various sectors of the US, including in the media and financial sector.
“The US government is very, very strongly influenced by Israel and its extremely powerful lobby here in the US,” said Barrett, a founding member of the Muslim-Jewish-Christian Alliance and a co-founder of the American Muslim Political Action Committee.
On Saturday at the Saban Forum, President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry reiterated their support for Israel while continuing to consult with Israel about a final nuclear agreement with Iran.
“Federal office holders and people in official positions like John Kerry and indeed President Obama are forced virtually at gunpoint, and in fact in some ways literally at gunpoint since there are questions about a few assassinations in our history, to proclaim that the US is the slave of Israel, that there’s no difference between the objectives of the US and Israel,” Barrett said.
In an earlier interview with Press TV, Barrett said he believes that the Israelis and some hard-line elements in the US military and CIA were behind the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.
On November 24, Iran and the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council — the United States, Russia, France, China, and Britain — plus Germany sealed an agreement to lay the groundwork for the full resolution of the West’s decade-old dispute with Iran over its nuclear energy program.
In exchange for Iran’s confidence-building bid to limit certain aspects of its nuclear activities, the United States and its allies have agreed to lift some of the existing sanctions against the country.
