The deployment of US Marines to a military base in Djibouti for a possible intervention in South Sudanâ„¢s civil war is Å“absolutely tiresome,” an American political commentator says.
Å“When youâ„¢re looking at the ongoing danger that is going to be posed by these both to American armed forces as well as all of new enemies that we are going to create for ourselves by intervening in a situation in Sudan, itâ„¢s absolutely tiresome,” Mark Dankof told Press TV on Tuesday.
Å“And clearly what we see here is a Barack Obama, who is looking more like George Bush and Dick Cheney all the time,” he added.
On Monday, about 150 US Marines arrived in Djibouti on the Horn of Africa to help any evacuations of Americans in South Sudan.
Meanwhile, US President Barack Obama said Washington will take action if needed in South Sudan after American forces were attacked in the African country.
“As I monitor the situation in South Sudan, I may take further action to support the security of US citizens, personnel and property, including our embassy, in South Sudan,” Obama wrote in a letter to Congress.
The president made the remarks after a US military aircraft came under attack in South Sudan, injuring four American soldiers.
Å“In South Sudan what you have is a situation where the United States is using any pretext it can to intervene in a part of the world where there are very rich oil resources available,” Dankof said.
Å“Clearly this is a situation where the people of America need to stand up and tell the president and tell the congress of the United States that they are sick of these military interventions that end up creating more problems,” he said.
