UKIP replaces Lib Dems at third place

A new poll has found that UKIP is now the third most popular political party in Britain.

A new poll shows support for the United Kingdom Independence Party (UKIP) has risen to its peak level, putting the party in the third place above the Liberal Democrats.

According to the ComRes poll for the Sunday Mirror and Independent on Sunday, Labour fell by three points to 35 percent, the Conservatives were down one to 29 percent and the Liberal Democrats remained at 8 percent. However, support for UKIP reached a record 19 percent.

The survey of 2,017 Britons between 15 and 16 May also found that 46 percent of Britons would vote to leave the European Union (EU) in a referendum, compared to 24 percent who would stay in.

The poll comes as Nigel Farageâ„¢s UKIP managed to achieve its best result in local elections in England and Wales earlier this month.

UKIP also enjoyed the biggest surge for a new party since World War II, taking votes from the UKâ„¢s three major parties the Conservatives, Labour and Liberal Democrats and increasing its seats on the local councils from eight to 147.
