UK PM to vote against own Queen Speech

British Prime Minister David Cameron is reportedly to vote against his own planned Queenâ„¢s Speech in a desperate bid to make as many people as possible aware how keen he is to hold his EU referendum.

A number of Conservative MPs have tabled amendments to the next weekâ„¢s Queenâ„¢s Speech, in a move unprecedented since 1946.

The proposals call for the inclusion of a government pledge to hold an EU vote in 2017 in the governmentâ„¢s policy this year in the form of a piece of law.

According to The Sun, Cameron is appeasing them with a planned support for the amendments.

“This amendment backs up his policy, which is a Conservative Party policy, so why shouldn’t he vote for it too,” the paper quoted a Downing Street source as saying.

The suggestion signals to Cameronâ„¢s party members that he wants the in-out referendum on the EU even before the 2015 general election, but the only obstacle he is facing are his coalition partner Nick Clegg and his Liberal Democrat party.
