A survey carried out by the Irish International Business Network has found that a UK exit from the European Union (EU) would have a negative impact on businesses.
Around 53.1 percent of the companies surveyed in Britain and Ireland think that if the UK were to leave the EU, it would be bad for their businesses.
About 40.6 percent said a UK exit would have no impact at all, while 6.3 percent claim it would be positive for business.
The chief executive of fine art photography business Macsfieldimages, Terence MacSwiney Field, said a UK exit could resort to the reintroduction of custom posts, passport controls, borders and excise duties on products, which would result in soaring prices on imports and exports.
Meanwhile, British Prime Minister David Cameron remains committed to an in/out referendum in 2017, after he was pressured by many backbenchers in his own party.
Britainâ„¢s chief secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander warned last month that economic recovery would be lost if the coalition government continues to suggest willingness to leave the EU.
