A blast ripped through a mosque in the Syrian capital, reportedly killing a prominent pro-regime Sunni cleric Sheikh Mohammed Said Ramadan Bouti. The total number of causalities remains unknown.
Syrian TV says that a “terrorist suicide blast” hit the Iman mosque in Damascus, although local residents said they initially believed the explosion was caused when a mortar shell hit a nearby political office, Reuters reports.
