Islamic State in Syria and Iraq just announced it has carried out 90 suicide attacks in those countries in February alone, up from 85 in January.
Of these attacks, 51 involved the use of so-called vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIED’s), the other 39 suicide attacks were carried out with explosive belts. The data was published by the Amaq News Agency, which has close ties to ISIS and is known for its reliable information about the international operations of Islamic State.
On Sunday, ISIS carried out a new deadly VBIED suicide attack in Hila, a city south of Bagdad in Iraq. At least 60 people died when a truck bomb rammed into a checkpoint on the road to Bagdad. Iraqi officials said at least 70 people were wounded in the horrific attack on the predominantly Shia town.
It was the second time within a week that ISIS carried out suicide bombings in the area of Bagdad. Last week, Islamic State murdered close to 200 people in a string of suicide attacks against targets in suburbs and neighborhoods of the Iraqi capital.
Channel 10 in Israel showed images Thursday of the frantic construction of an improvised wall around the city that is meant to stop the suicide terror by Islamic State. Israel did something similar during the so-called Second Intifada when Hamas and Islamic Jihad suicide bombers targeted Jerusalem and other Israel cities and villages.
